Translational Center
of Excellence

This TCE aims to advance genetically engineered blood stem cell therapy and launch human trials at UPenn and the ACC for sickle cell disease and thalassemia. It will enhance CAR-T cell therapies for broader cancer applications through pioneering gene editing techniques. Led by UPenn researchers, projects will focus on safer CAR-T targeting, novel CAR-expressing cells for solid tumors, correcting genetic mutations in blood cancers, and engineering tumor cells for improved treatment, all while maintaining accessible visual identity.

Designing a logo mark that symbolizes DNA genetic engineering posed a challenge initially, as we aimed for the center to resonate with scientists, donors, and sponsors alike. We achieved this balance by adopting a subtly abstract approach to its visual identity. The flowing lines and loops suggest connections and modifications within the DNA strand, maintaining an approachable and organic feel that avoids a clinical sterility. The purple-blue palette adds a refreshing and trustworthy touch to the overall design.
